In
1996, I started to
seriously think about adopting a dog.
With no specific breed in mind,
I started my research: reading dog magazines and consulting
books on different dog breeds.
Per chance I came upon the Schapendoes and was smitten by the
breed. Their expressive
faces, their dishevelled allure, their structure, their temperament,
their healthy constitution and their easy upkeep, made me fall in
love and want to know more about this breed.
Not
being able to find any
Schapendoes in Canada or the U.S.,
I broadened my search to Europe and finally it was to France
that I made my trip to go for my first Schapendoes O’Fisban and
O’Thasna de la Vallée des Trogldytes in (1998).
In 2000, Roane Sammie de la Vallée du Doux, also from a
French kennel arrived to complete my first trio of Schapendoes.
Since then, Ietje Lindy, my beautiful Dutch girl, has arrived
to add her heritage to my breeding program.
Schapendoes
from our kennel now find themselves living in families all over
Canada and a few have found homes in the U.S.
Severals
are now part of other Canadian Kennels.

The
Schapendoes is the only breed I raise and I usually only produce one
or two litters a year.
My
main goal is to produce good family
pets that will bring joy to young and old.
I also strive to conserve, by judiciously choosing the
parents, the principle physical characteristics that make the
Schapendoes an excellent candidate
for all canine sports, such as agility, tracking, herding and
flyball. They
are flexible and have astounding jumping abilities because of their
light bone structure. Add to this their strong desire to please and
you have a marvellous dog with which to work and have fun with.
All
our breeding stock are tested OFA or OVC for hips and are free of
any eye problems.
